OB
     (
OrmsBy)  Named for an adjacent South Side neighborhood, this intelocking controlled the junction of the Scully Branch with the Monongahela Division mainline, at the south throat of 30th St. Yard.  These two routes passed over each other as they became the 4-track portion of the Monongahela Division main down to 'CR', creating a complicated track arrangement of multiple double slip switches.  'OB' also controlled the '0' track from its north end in front of the block and interlocking station to its south end at Hays, PA.  The operator here must have been a busy person...
     The  block and interlocking station structure was originally wood;  it remained so throughout the 1940's, though it had gotten quite delapidated and had to be propped up to prevent it sliding down the embankment onto East Carson St.  The extant brick-and-block structure dates from 1952, at the completion of the 30th St, Yard reconstruction.
     South of ;OB', the mainline curved slightly to the east as it passed over the Beck's Run Viaduct over Beck's Run and Beck's Run Rd.  This five-track (!) concrete structure dates from about 1925 and replaced a pair of steel double-track viaducts.
