Road Trip 2008

This was a trip to Orlando, Floriday. We left Tuesday April 1, and returned Friday April 11. Our route took us through Bufalo, NY, Erie and Pittsburgh, PA, Wheeling and Bluefield, WV, Atlanta and Macon, GA, Lake City, Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, Sanford and finally Orlando, Florida.

Along the way we were able to shoot the following pictures.

 

April 1: Day 1. Home to Wheeling, WV

Buffalo and Pittsburgh in Erie, PA.

Wheeling and Lake Erie in Pittsburgh, PA.

 

April 2: Day 2. Wheeling, WV to Greenville, SC

An eastbound NS autorack train at Bluefield, WV

April 9: Day 9: Orlando, FL to Jacksonville, FL

After we left Bowden Yard we didn't see another train until we were back in South Carolina. Unfortunately we weren't able to shoot an eastbound junk train lead by GTW GP40-2's. We stopped at Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, PA. Although there was nothing operating while we were there, we took a tour of the shops. Unfortunately not all of the equipment isn't in service, and most of it has not been painted in at least 20 years. Some of it needs a lot of work to restore, and some may be too far gone.
