(32K) A typical room at New York's Hotel Pennsylvania.

(35K) The Metropolitan Lounge at Penn Station.

(51K) Trackside at Penn Station just before boarding the Silver Star. The platforms are elevated to match car entrances.

(56K) A very impressive Newark, NJ Amtrak station with skylights provided perfect illumination for photos.

(37K) Amtrak owns the tracks between Washington DC and Boston in which electric locomotives are used. Here is a General Electric E60MA 6000 HP locomotive.

(36K) The electric locomotive is removed.

(44K) There were many staircases leading up into the station. With no time to explore the depot, I took a few photos from half way up the stairs.

(47K) Trackside at Washingto DC Union Station.

(50K) When walking from a Viewliner Sleeper to a Heritage dining car, it represents Amtra's oldest and most recent rolling stock. Nearly two decades are represented by simply switching between these two cars. I found it amazing.

(50K) Amfleet Coaches are used on the Silver Star.

(41K) A MARC commuter train sits idle awaiting rush hour to commence.

(44K) The Virgina railway provides commuter transit south of Washington DC.

(40K) More switching action to photograph as the Silver Star gets diesel Genesis power since there are no electric lines south of Washington DC.

(44K) Just like yesterday's scenario with the SAME BAGGAGE CAR I had on the Lake Shore Limited. Three cars....two...etc.

(32K) Ready to depart Washington DC with new locomotives.

(41K) In Jacksonville, FL, it was said that it looked more like an intermodal terminal. They were correct! Lots of freight containers everywhere and these truck assemblies. Perhaps these were for RoadRailers?

(45K) Perfect photo of me next to my second favorite locomotive! Finally, a person who could operate my camera and take a decent photo. This might be this year's Christmas card!

(39K) Last year, the Jacksonville depot had some rennovations done including the installation of this arch.

(55K) A vast improvement over when I visited Jacksonville two years ago on my first long Amtrak trip.

(60K) Nice shot of "Amtrak Niagra." That's what a passenger told me after taking this photo. Seemed like half the water was being poured on the ground instead of entering the car. All hoses sprayed like that so it must have been normal.

(41K) At Sanford, FL, the Auto Train storage facility.

(56K) A beautiful crisp day in Orlando, FL provided excellent photo conditions. The Silver Star prepares for departure.

(38K) Here's a car I meant to view the interior of. I forgot to ask Henry if he could have given me a tour of a Heritage Sleeper.

(57K) Train 91 pulls out with an open baggage door. A pallet jack sits to the right for moving pallets of packages that were unloaded.

(41K) The entire consist of my train can be seen in this photo.
