Ridley Keystone & Mountain Railroad

The Road to Fantasy

The Water Tower Diorama

Track Laying

The track and road bed have been laid

For the roadbed I selected Woodland Scenics Foam Roadbed. I used white glue to attach the roadbed foam to the pink foam. I used some scrap wood and weights to hold down the foam roadbed. I let it dry for several days.

Next came laying the track itself. For the track I selected Atlas Code 100 Snap Track. I attached the track to the roadbed with white glue. I left the track over hang the edge of the diorama by three ties length. I did this because I felt it would aid me later in adding the diorama to a layout. This over hang has been a welcomed trait as it has allowed me to easily hook the diorama to the temporary layout track. On another future diorama I did not provide this over hang and I have some difficulty connecting that diorama into the layout.

Another benefit of the track and roadbed is that it will also help to hold the two foam base pieces together.
