Better than what? I don't know. They're just better. We all have things we really really like, and I like model railroad equipment. The biggest disappointment I've ever encountered in the hobby was not finding my favourite diesel locomotives painted in CN or CP Rail, and after a lot of trial and error I developed my own approach to painting and detailing locos and cars. I call it 'modeling on the three foot rule'. The idea of the three foot rule is not new, but over the years I decided I wanted to model for the overall effect, not the detail. All HO scale locomotives will look like toys if you stand too close to them. Look at the locomotive in my hand. Is it real or is it a toy? For all you know I could have shrunk an image of a real GP-7 and pasted it into the photo. Dare to enter this page if you want to find out. You don't have to be 18 or over, but you do have to be a model railroader. Otherwise you won't have the foggiest notion as to what I'm talking about. By the way, all of my locos are first generation diesels. If you like SD-40s and anything newer, try not to get bored.
