Canadian Pacific wooden cars

In the beginning of the century, CPR operated four primitive dome wooden cars, one starting in 1902 and three more in 1906. The following is text regarding these cars by Karl Zimmerman in an article in the December 1985 issue of Passenger Train Journal.

"These curious beasts had a large cupola at each end, between which was a glass-roofed center section with broad windows and revolving leather chairs for 14. In the end sections were platforms four feet above the floor level; on each of these was perched six revolving cane-bottomed chairs. Sitting there, passengers could look out in all directions from a cupola projecting three feet above the roof line. These cars, handsome with their natural mahogany exteriors, were used between Donald and Revelstoke, B.C., over the Selkirk Range. Apparently they were scrapped circa World War I. Presumably the dome car's season had not yet arrived."
