3486/Chesapeake & Ohio C-630's
|
After nearly twenty years, the great Chesapeake & Ohio finally placed an order with Alco. They decided to sample four Century 630s which at the time were being built with Hi-Ad trucks. These locomotives were rarely photographed on their short duty for the Chessie, being sold to MK for rebuilding after seeing only six years of service in the states. Even though they have been rebuilt with “pilbara cabs” and GE hoods, everything below the frame still survives and sees service on the the Robe River mining railroad in Australia. |
