Several different files are available for the Washington-New York
segment. Most passengers take the (mostly) unreserved trains which Amtrak now
calls NortheastDirect: select the desired direction, weekday or weekend.
**Reservations are required on NortheastDirect trains marked R.**
All-reserved, extra-fare Metroliner trains are in their own timetable files.
For service to and from points on the Hartford-Springfield branch,
see the tables labeled "Springfield".
For service to and from all other points north of New York, including all
service to New Haven, use the Boston timetables.
Because some trains are faster than others, these schedules cannot be in correct order at all stations. Therefore, check a few columns each side of your desired departure time for trains which might suit your needs better.
Some Metroliners (marked J) make additional stops at Princeton Jct. and Trenton. One pair of Boston trains as well as a limited-stop late night train (marked N) uses the Inland Route via Springfield and Worcester.
Holiday Schedules: The Northeast Corridor trains will typically run on a Sunday schedule on major holidays including Christmas and New Years. In addition, trains the day before will typically operate on a Saturday schedule. Amtrak issues a special schedule for expanded service operated over an extended Thanksgiving weekend.
