Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe

The Santa Fe's passenger service will be remembered for many years to come. The distinctive F7s in their "warbonnet" paint scheme were a very familiar sight to anyone growing up in the Midwest or West from the 1950s until Amtrak's takeover in the '70s. The most famous train of all was the Super Chief, which made a long trek from Chicago to the West Coast. Also well-known was the El Capitan, which was outfitted with double-deck cars from Budd.
