Association of American Railroads- An association involved in the safety of railroads.
Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers- A labor union representing railroad locomotive engineers.
Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees- A labor union representing railroad maintenance of way employees.
Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen- A labor union representing the railroad employees who maintain, repair and install railroad signals as well as grade crossing warning systems.
National Transportation Safety Board- A government organization dedicated to investigating transportation accidents, including railroad accidents, and preventing them in the future.
United Transportation Union- A labor union for railroad operations employees, such as brakemen and conductors.

Friends of Amtrak- An organization dedicated to preserving Amtrak, and providing information on how this is possible.
Lake Superior Railroad Museum- The Depot in Duluth, Minnesota. A great museum that includes many interesting railroad items, a place that everyone should visit when they find themselves in Duluth. Also, the Depot is home to the North Shore Scenic Railroad, operating between Duluth and Two Harbors, Minnesota.
Missabe Railroad Historical Society- An organization with an abundance of historical information about the Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railroad.
Operation Lifesaver Inc.- An organization dedicated to reducing railroad grade crossing accidents, "Look, Listen and Live".
