Baldwin Number 61524
ATSF 5000, The Madame Queen

If you have never heard of the Madame Queen it is very fascinitating. This locomotive is a one of a kind (Class 5000, built in 1930) and we are honored to have it right here in Amarillo, Texas. My mother worked for Santa Fe and helped in the donation of the 5000 to Amarillo.

In addition there is some really good history and more photos on the Amarillo Railroad Museum web site.

This is the early version of the sticky note. This was to remind the engineers of how to
set the valves as this locomotive was being towed so as not to break the running gear.
