Haji Tinplate

The first Haji trains were manufactured in the early 1960's and were roughly 'S' gauge. These trains shared the same basic locomotive design (an 0-4-0 patterned after a Japanese D51 2-8-2) Some versions had smoke deflectors and some didn't. The variants are shown below. The 0-4-0's were sold in sets with all tinplate track as well as later versions with plastic track. In the late 1960's, Haji came out with a plastic 0-6-0 with a tab-and-slot steel frame. These engines can be found with both metal and plastic side rods. The 0-6-0 was also imported by Marx in the 1960's as part of their 'Little Rail' line. The tooling for this locomotive eventually was sold to Hong Kong, where the last Marx set was produced, as well as some other sets with this body.
