Taylor

Taylor, Alabama was a small residential community south of Neely and north of Crichton. During the early operating period of the railroad, it became the home for at least two of the Bay Shore's customers:

Crichton Lumber Company

Bixler and Bartee [Basket Factory]

Crichton Lumber Company was located on the west side of the mainline, and was serviced by two staggered spurs. Each spur had its switch on the north end.

Bixler & Bartee was a manufacturer of baskets, and was located on the east side of the mainline, just north of Mobile Cotton Mills. It had a short spur with the switch on the north end.

Until the 1970's, a portion of this trackage continued to be operational as an industrial spur just past Bixler & Bartee's location. This served a food warehouse at the end of Bay Shore Avenue. Another portion of this trackage is still in operation in the year 2000, serving a business which may today be located on the original Bixler & Bartee site.
