Theodore

Originally known as "Fowl River" on the L&N, this community was given the middle name of one of three brothers operating a logging camp in the late 1890s. Hieronymous Brothers Lumber Company would later relocate to a site farther south, near Delchamps, at a place known as Kauffman.

According to the timetable, Theodore was a station stop for passengers, and was the location for the southbound water tower. The station was located between the main and the passing siding, on the east side of the main. The ICC route map places the station just south of the large curve diverging from the L&N with which it had been running mostly parallel to.

In this photo, the station may still be visible, about mid-image. It has undergone a number of alterations in the 25 years since the earlier ICC photo was taken, notably the change in the roof style.

This image shows the station as it appeared in 1915. Delchamps and Bayou la Batre stations were built using the same basic floor plan.
