Notes from January 29, ‘09 Model Train Display Meeting

1. Plans for ‘09 Train Show:
A. Dates: Saturday, December 19: 5:00 p.m. to 8:00
p.m. and
Sunday, December 20: 1:00 p.m.
to 5:00 p.m.
B. Location: Buhl Community Recreation Center, second
floor gymnasium.
C. Set-up time for exhibiters: Saturday, December 19: 8 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
D. Tear-down
time for exhibiters: Sunday,
December 20: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
E. Cut off
date for exhibiters registration: September
30 at a $5.00 entrance fee. $15.00 if
registration comes after the cut off date.
2. Bob Konnen offered to prepare a web site for the train show. Our committee to work this out with Buhl
C.R.C. web designer: Frank Weaver.
3. George Dell offered to take care of all copying + expenses
4. George Dell offered to prepare a logo for the train show.
5. NEXT MEETING: Friday,
February 27 from 7:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Willson Room, Buhl Community
Recreation Center.
6. Favorable evaluation from Jeff Valentino, Buhl director
and Tracy Mariner, Buhl Program director.
All committee members felt that results were far greater than expected.
7. Suggestions for next year:
Possible murals; use a “clicker”
to get an actual head count; better
accessibility using second floor gymnasium;
Contact Robert Downing, former CSX employee to be on our committee; Upgrade exhibit arrangement since we have
the luxury of a year to plan; more door
prizes; allow possibilities for
exhibitors to share with each other;
more emphasis placed on ways to exhibit the club to show visitors; more
displays in hall ways using care not to block traffic flow; more time/detail on holiday/train
decorations.
8. Next meeting to include:
election of officers.
