CPs 7000 series consisted of early switchers, all built before 1950. The ALCO S-2 units are filling in most of the 7000 series (#7010-7064), while MLW built a number of S-2 units as well (#7076-7098). They all had a turbocharged ALCO 6-539 4-cycle engine rated at 1000 Hp. Units #7065-7075 are Baldwin-built DS 4-4-1000 switchers, with a turbocharged 1000 Hp. model 6-606SC 4-cycle engine block. Unit #7099 is an S-4, built by MLW and was the first unit of the #7099-7108 group. All units in the #7010-7099 group were sold or retired by 1986.
