-JANUARY-

PROGRAM - FRIDAY, JANUARY 19, 2001
The program this evening will feature the ever popular Don Woods who will present us with a great flashback program of slides taken in 1973 of the Santa Fe Railroad in Texas. Not only did Don get slides of freight trains, but he took early Amtrak with SF Warbonnets and SF passenger cars. Also to be shown are his shots of unused SF passenger cars sitting in a long line on tracks near Galveston. Don got great shots of these forlorn cars, of which many were taken over by Amtrak (especially the stainless steel ones) for use on their new trains. This should be a very interesting show. Be sure to come.

DUE TO THE CHRISTMAS PARTY THERE ARE NO MINUTES FOR THE MEETING OF DECEMBER.

THE PRESIDENT WOULD LIKE TO INFORM THE CLUB TRUSTEES THAT THEY ARE THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE FOR THE COMING ELECTION OF CLUB OFFICERS AND TO BE READY AT THE JANUARY MEETING WITH NOMINATIONS. THEY ARE TO BE SURE TO CHECK WITH THE CANDIDATES FIRST BEFORE NOMINATING THEM.

TREASURER RON LEITCH WISHES TO REMIND THE MEMBERS THAT CLUB DUES IN THE AMOUNT OF $10.00 FOR THE YEAR 2001 WILL BE DUE. You may send a check in that amount to Ron at 18707 Ferncliffe Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44135. Make it out to: The Cleveland Railroad Club. Or if possible, due to Ron not being able to make the meetings, you may pay Dick Novak who will forward it to the Treasurer. Your membership card and receipt will be mailed to you.

HERE AND THERE by the Editor
Former member Henry Green informs us that he is now 82 years old and will relinquish his drivers license for a citizens identification card as advised by his social worker. With the money saved by not driving anymore Henry plans to buy a tape recorder so he can mail his song tapes to the songwriters. His sister Brenda (who attended our Anniversary dinner several years ago) is doing quite well and enjoys the trips the center takes her out on. Henry's address is 36853 Ridge Rd, Apt 402, Willoughby, Ohio 44094-4167. *** THE NORTHERN OHIO RAILWAY MUSEUM has put out its new catalog for 2001. It is a beautiful printing job and is a great source of many new and used rare traction and rail books. For a copy contact the museum. *** FROM THE CLUB TREASURER; Our club financial accounts consist of a checking account with Charter One Bank, and a passbook savings account with the Dollar Bank, whom, as you well know furnish us with free meeting headquarters each month. However, Charter One Bank has now instituted a new $5.00 SERVICE CHARGE each month for all checks returned back with the monthly statement. Despite a call by me last month to inform them not to send the checks but to keep them on record (we do not write many checks) the statement this month arrived with a $5 service charge for two returned checks. For some reason it was impossible to call the bank on their number (I will do so next week) to check on this matter. I would request that a motion be made at the meeting for the Treasurer to close out the Charter One checking account and transfer the proceeds to a checking account with Dollar Bank, thus combining eveything in one bank. This way the funds could easily by transfered between the two accounts if needed. I do not know however if Dollar Bank also imposes such a charge.
