Headlines the Third
Annual
BBQ, Blues & Bluegrass Festival
set for June 7!
The historic train depot on W. Howard Street in downtown Decatur will set the stage once again for live blues and bluegrass music -- and the tastiest BBQ and microbrews north of the tracks!
The 3rd annual Decatur BBQ, Blues and Bluegrass Festival will be held on Saturday, June 7 from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Admission is $5 at the gate.
Chicago-born songstress Francine Reed will headline the show. She's best known as Lyle Lovett's duet and "foreground" vocalist. She also sings two duets with Willie Nelson on his latest release, Milk Cow Blues.
Atlanta's own Matthew Thomas and Friends will kick off the event with blues, while Steel Blue will follow up with bluegrass.
Local musicians are invited to jam in the amateur tent, while the youngest music fans can ride a miniature train and jump in the "moon walk."
Decatur's own Raleigh's BBQ & Blues, located on the Decatur Square, will serve up hot sandwiches and sides, and Eagle Rock Distributing Company can quench your thirst with Atlanta's favorite beers.
The Decatur Preservation Alliance and Community Center of South Decatur are sponsoring the festival, with proceeds going to restore the historic train depot.
CSX Rail Lines Inc. donated the depot to the City of Decatur in 2001, but required that the building be moved away from its tracks. Last year's festival helped raise funds to move the depot 32 feet. The DPA hopes to raise more money this year to finish the depot's restoration.
