LURGAN BRANCH OPEN
While maintenance is continuing on the Lurgan Branch and Hagerstown Secondary, the maintenance window was apparently short lived. TV-211's schedule continues to be pushed back three hours "due to maintenance", however the train has continued down the branch before 15:00 ET on a few occasions. Other traffic has been showing up in the time frame that was supposed to be utilized by track forces.

NYSW SD70M 4050 continues to rack up road mileage on the Union Pacific. The unit came as far east as Proviso, IL yesterday and there was some anticipation that it would return east. Not the case... The unit has been dispatched on an empty hopper train destined to Caballo Mine in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming. Will Susie-Q ever come home? -Kevin Burkholder
Now fully two weeks past the scheduled retirement date for the Canadian Pacific Railway MLW's, fourteen continue to march on. While there have been several "close calls" with groups arriving at St. Luc and sitting for a few days, the MLW's are defying all odds and sticking it out. They appear to be grouped into certain pools and are holding down assignments "together". CP train 551-25 fielded RS18u 1811, 1812 and 1822. 552-25 was lead by M424 4240 and RS18u 1837 and 1839. 923-25 was the big winner with five MLW's leading the way. M424's 4230 and 4219 were in charge of RS18u 1838, 1842 and 4204 on the 923-25. Three stragglers were also reported on the road. RS18u 1860 was at Binghamton, NY off of train 556-23; M424 4210 was at Woodstock, Ontario on train 507-23 and M424 4238 was reported at Smiths Falls, Ontario on train 919-25. -Bryce Lee

All three remaining Amtrak F40PH units 235-311-359 were still at Schiller Park last night. They will be returned to Amtrak today along with WC GP7M 4508 and WC GP30 711. The two WC units are being leased to Amtrak short term and will be assigned to a 41 car Amtrak ballast train which will go to Mosinee (Mathy) for loading. WC will run the train from Chicago to Mosinee and return to Amtrak where they will take the ballast train for unloading.
It is likely that this ballast is heading for the Amtrak Line in Michigan. -Ray Weart
