CSX's TransFlo group is offering a new service for rail customers plagued by freight congestion along the Gulf Coast. The service, called New Orleans Short Stop Service, shuttles freight by truck from the Texas Chemical Coast, or any other western origin, to CSX's New Orleans transfer terminal. From there, product is transferred into rail cars for delivery to the shipper's rail-served customers located east of the Mississippi, or to other CSX TransFlo-marketed terminals.
Shippers using this new transportation solution to Gulf Coast congestion can expect to reduce their long-haul trucking expenses, transportation and logistics costs, and capital requirements for additional storage or railcars.
"This new service demonstrates that we're not standing still at CSX," says the TransFlo group's Assistant Vice President, Jim Howarth. "We've heard customers' concerns and we're developing short-term solutions to keep them competitive in their markets." The New Orleans Short Stop Service will be in effect as long as congestion problems persist in the Gulf Coast area.
For more information about New Orleans Short Stop Service, call Tom Piatak at (904)359-4912 or Bill Wittekind at (904)366-5839.
CSX TransFlo markets the services of the nation's largest network of full-service bulk product and warehouse rail transfer facilities, with more than 100 locations in 19 states east of the Mississippi. -CSX Corporation
