I have nothing of maintenance of way during operation.  Kristina Palsson shows a push car in her thesis:

I do not know if the line had powered motor cars or scooters as my father used:

His ran on the Chicago and North Western...in this case at Necedah, Wisconsin.

However, Mike Cunningham shows a motorized one on the rebuilt railway in his story, Phoenix Railway. In that case, one could say that it was kitbashed from a motorcycle and either a handcar or  push car.

Renato found this in a recent issue of Ingegneria Ferroviaria, a strange vehicle derived from a Guzzi motorbike (italian brand) to inspect the line.

From reports of reconstruction, they have tamping machines.  However, I have not seen a pictures of them.

Rick Baxter has a picture of a crane taken early in 2000.    From the sea in the background, this must have been taken in Massawa.  One of the flat cars, which were converted to passenger service, appears to have been derailed.  With my wife being a wildlife artist, I couldn't resist leaving the bird in the picture.
