CALGARY TRANSIT
1988 Siemens/Duwag U2-AC #3001-3002 r/n 2101-2102
#2101 and 2102 are the only 2 cars like them that are running in Calgary. Built in 1988, these cars use AC traction motors, as opposed to DC traction motors which are used in the the rest of the fleet. These two cars operated in Edmonton as #3001 and 3002, before coming to Calgary and running as the same numbers. After the demo period was up, Calgary Transit, being short of cars, purchased both cars. They retained they're fleet numbers of 3001 and 3002 until being renumbered to 2101 and 2102 in the late 1990's. Both cars are in service today, but are only used a middle cars today.
