Well heres the latest on my N scale layout. Today I finally got restocked on for paints for my "rock" colour. I then finished up the far side of the layout. (I only wish i could recreate rock colour better!) :( Anywho.... I also got my TUNNEL PORTALS!!!!!! YAAAAAAYYYYYYYY! I found out when I placed up one of the portals against the exsisting "hole" in the mountain that i needed to somehow bring the portal for it to be square with the tracks. I did so by putting a piece of foam in the back. Now there was a big gap from the side of the foam to the exsisting portion of the layout making the land seem abnormal looking (yes the colour maybe a bit off, but when i comes to the land, im picky). So I crumpled up a piece of paper and stuck it into the hole and plastered it up. There is a small gap betweem the portal, im thinking about filling this gap with a piece of cardboard and foliage on it.
I (unofficially) finished all the "turfing" on the layout. The only thing to do before I get a train running on it is to ballast the rest of the track. I will then clear the track of the glue that has been crusted to the tracks. The stuff on my to do list is to finish off the rd on the Mtn Industrial spur, put wood chips/ sawdust over at Valley Lumber, put up tunnel portals on the openings of the tunnel, purchase some buildings and some scenery and try to figure what the heck I want to do with the centre village! So there is still quite a bit to do on my layout.
Today is the day that my layout had its first test run with engine troubles galour! All of the turfing on my layout is done and as for the rock painting, i have decide, to leave the small white sections on some of the faces, unproffesional, I know, but what the heck its my first layout and I will (try) to cover up the bulk off the unsightly white with trees which i still have to place in various places on my layout. Most of the balasting has been done except for the inner yard (Hillside yard) and the "other sides" tunnel porthole track. I still have to glue the portholes to the layout and finish the Hillside yard and town area. I will probably "Smooth it" with plaster and I am still out looking for an oil facility that will fit in where i want it and a small factory.
