Level Track

In the Free-Mo Modular Trackwork Handbook, it talks about getting down and looking at your track from low down. Here are some examples of what you might see. Some of the pictures are a little blurry but you will get the point. Yes, in reality track goes up and down, but think about it. In HO Scale, 3.5 mm is one foot. How fast does track go up and down? A foot in 40 feet, I do not think so. These problems are also exaggerated when scaled down. Make your trackwork as good as possible. It all starts with the Module top, make it flat, make the roadbed flat and your track will be flat.

This is an example of what you do not want to see. Looking from above you might not notice the dips and humps. Track-1a.jpg (116160 bytes)
