What's a Starliner?

Well they were produced in 1960 and 61 and were haled as Fords first muscle cars and the start of the 'Total Performance' era.

Engine options included the Mileage maker 6 cylinder and the venerable Y Block 292 V8. As well there were the 352 cubic inch FE Big Block and from mid 1961 the 390 cubic inch FE Big Block.

The 390 could be purchased with a 375 HP 4V or 401 HP 6V option.

My car was a standard 300 HP 352 model but will run a 6V 390 in it's new life.

1961 Galaxie

This is a 1961 Ford Galaxie Starliner,  it's not my one but will give you an idea of what I would like to achieve.

This is my car just after it was landed in New Zealand.

The car came from Cherry Valley which is just past Anaheim in Las Angeles.  It was a little battered but a solid car.

Panel work completed and fresh paint.  Waiting for the stainless steel trim to be repaired and fitted.

The car sports a 390 cubic inch V8 (6.6 litre).

Wheels are 15" x 8" Cragers on the rear and 14" x 7" Cragers on the front.  The smaller wheels on the front gave it a "Jacked up" look that I wasn't happy with

How many Westies does it take to carry a Galaxie?

This is the last time the car saw daylight.  It was being transported to our new home.

It is undergoing an extensive body off restoration which may even be finished one day.

Just to finish off,

here is a Mk II Norton Commando Roadster.
