C-19 at Tonopah, Weeds Flat-eelcar Loco #4 Goldfield Grizzley Flay, Shay 1 Orecar, Clouds

These pictures are of the Goldfield and Hangtown Railroad, a layout set in the 1890 to 1915 period. I have been "working on the Railroad" since 1975, when I started building the layout. All the wooden cars have been scratch-built, and many of the structures.

The Track is hand-laid, including turnouts (and that includes two double-slip switches in the yards). Place-names are taken from western Nevada and Eastern California in the area suggested by the terminal names of the railroad. The rockwork comes from molds I have made since 1974, and painted with a wash of acrylic colors. The various dirt colors have come from california, Arizona, Utah and Colorado. Tree armatures come from a backyard bush, and bushes are lichen dotted with glue, then rolled in colored foam bits. Small bushes are bits of sponge rubber, and the weeds are dyed jute twine.

I am also a member of the Glendale model railroad club (since 1949), and Model Railroads of Southern California.

Thank you for visiting.
