Anascaul, village, parish of Ballynacourty, N.W. county Kerry, Ireland, 9 miles East of Dingle. The village is situate in a valley near Dingle Bay, and has a lake in the neighbourhood. The district is moorland. In the neighbouring glen is a spot called "Wolf's Step," and, according to tradition, the last wild wolf seen in Ireland was slain here. Ballynacourty, parish, Corkaguiny barony, West county Kerry, Ireland, 10 miles NE of Dingle; acreage 5,318. This is a mountainous tract, accupying part of the peninsula between Dingle Bayn and Tralee Bay. The parish church is a small building, dating from 1816, and there is a Roman Catholic Chapel.
