26% Hike in diesel fuel costs IR RS 4.25 Billion!
The September 1 fuel hike represents an effort by the government to bring fuel pricing in line with actual cost.
About 1/3 of oil is now imported and fuel costs can only continue to go up.
How much more can diesel go up before a return to steam need be considered? Has that point already been reached? What about the effect of imported fuel on the exchange rate? Does it really make sense to import oil to haul coal that is used to generate electricity?

Railway Museum in Delhi
Museum is located to the South of Delhi, Close to
Chanakayapuri. It is home to the worlds oldest working steam locomotive also the oldest existing "monorail", shown above. Hours 8:30-1130 AM and 16:00-1730PM Summer , Hours 9:00-17:30 Winter , Closed Mondays.
