Left to Right:
Rail Power Products SD45 shell on modified Athearn SD45 frame, late model ATSF 5624 in pinstripe livery.
Athearn FP45, with improved detailing, as ATSF 5948 in pinstripe livery.
Athearn FP45, as ATSF 5944 in red and silver warbonnet with small black
SANTA FE, a stock Athearn unit heavily weathered and partially detailed.
5944 was never repainted in pinstripe, rather it was eventually repainted in blue and yellow warbonnet.
Left to Right;
Athearn Genesis SD45-2 ATSF 5650 with added engineer, fireman
& cabtop a/c.
This is an early phase unit. I added an
interior cab light while repairing the rotary beacon I burnt out while figguring out how the light board worked.
My early 1990s Bash of ATSF 5711. Parts used include an Athearn GP38-2 nose &
rear, Athearn SD40-2 air handler & dynamic brake, Cannon doors & radiator
grilles, scratchbuilt long walkways on modified Athearn SD40-2 frame. This is a
last phase unit, in the same group as the bicentennials.
Athearn F45 as ATSF 5934 extensively modified and detailed.
To get this unit, originally built in the early 1990s, to run well with the two SD45-2s, I had to redo the track pickup wires
to connect directly to the metal truck interior side frames, and replace two
split half axles.
