Alan Schenkel's Locollection: Last Days in the Hudson Valley, Summer 2004 LOCOLLECTION: Last Days in the Hudson Valley, Summer 2004

I lived in Poughkeepsie, NY (home of Vassar, one of IBMs plants, and a long history) for almost 5 years. It was an reasonable place to raise a family, met a lot of great people. This page of pictures is from my last few days in the Hudson Valley including one last trip to Scranton, PA, home of Steamtown National Historic Site (a great place to go with kids!)

View from Fox Point, 100 feet from my house...on the right, across the river, a train is approaching the Milton siding of the CSX River Line. On the left back (east) is the Hudson Line (Metro North, CSX, CP/D&H, and Amtrak). I rode almost 175,000 rail miles on the Hudson line as a commuter from Poughkeepsie (POK) to New York City's famous Grand Central Terminal.
