Miscellaneous Northern Illinois Railfanning

Sept. 16, 2005

First stop was Mount Morris, where we caught a BNSF GP38 making a light engine move on the Illinois Railway.

Next we went to the former C&NW in Dixon and along came this westbound merchandise train with a former C&NW SD40-2 leading.

Here's the same train going under the coal tower at Nelson.

We headed into Sterling and found the local power.

A little farther west, an eastbound coal train speeds over the new bridge at Galt.

Next we went down to the BNSF's C&I line and caught a westbound TOFC train at Hinckley.

Moments later, this eastbound stack train came out of the siding.

Then came another westbound, which we shot on the east side of Hinckley.
