KCRC (Kowloon - Canton Railway Corporation) is currently building the 'Kowloon Southern Link' to connect it's East Rail and West Rail systems. Additional rolling stock, to the design of that used on the West Rail system has been ordered from Japan for use when the southern link is open. One of these new seven-car units was delivered to the East Rail system directly by sea using KCR's Hung Hom container terminal. The remaining vehicles are being delivered to the West Rail system which is inland. To achieve this the ship from Japan containing the vehicles docks at Tuen Mun River Trade Terminal, and they are then transported by road, one by one, to the depot at Kam Sheung Road. I managed to watch the delivery of the first vehicle to Kam Sheung Road which involved amongst other things: driving the 'wrong way' around a roundabout, lifting the vehicle off the road trailer parked directly above the track, pushing the carriage by hand a short distance, and unwrapping it. Unfortunately I didn't get to see one of the maintenance locomotives couple to the new carriage as I had to catch the last train home at 00:28.
