Nutfield Valley Railroad

The NVRR portrays a fictitious railroad in New England. The Layout is a model of significant proportions of the entire main, line. The freight includes coal from West Virginia mines headed westward to Midwestern industries and power plants. Other freight includes grain, cement, merchandise, autos, and steel utilizing rolling stock from several different eras. Modern trains may include TOFC or single and double stack containers. Passenger train equipment ranges from 1930's lightweight streamlined cars of the B&M's Flying Yankee to modern Amtrak SuperLiner equipment. Locomotive equipment ranges from steam and early diesels in the 40's era to the most modern high horsepower units of the 1990's. Locomotives from all around New England appear, operating high-priority run-through trains. Traffic is controlled by the person following the train. The NVRR has major interchanges with PRR and connects with several major eastern railroads.

[TrainWeb Editor's Note: I don't know if this organization still exists as the last update to this website as well as the most recent post to their Facebook page seems to have been in the year 2000. To inquire if this club still exists, click here to visit their Facebook and post a message to the members of that page. The most interesting material of this website may be the photos, especially of the "Flying Yankee," that you can view by clicking here.]

 Club Activities

Membership in the Nutfield Valley Railroad Club is usually open and prospective members are encouraged to apply. The club is incorporated in the State of New Hampshire and operates as a non-profit organization. It derives its income from monthly member's dues ($1.00 for adults, $.50 Students) and intrest on the Clubs bank acount. The club meets every Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. . Normally, the last Thursday nights of the month are reserved for railroad operation. Major layout construction, detailing,   maintenance, etc. Are normally done on Thursday nights.

Members are issued clubhouse keys upon initiation, provided they have been qualified in the details of its operation.

Trains to be operated on the layout useally are inspected for conformation with NMRA and club standards such as wheel gauge, weight, and Kadee couplers.

The club is not only a place for work but also a place for members to meet and discuss all facets of prototype and model railroading. Inexperienced model railroaders have the opportunity for learning the "tricks of the trade" from more experienced members.

The club's recent building expansion will allow slide/video shows and clinics on various aspects of model railroading.

The club normally holds a free Open House in May and November to allow the public to enjoy the railroad. A railroad Flea Market is usually held at the same time.
