NEC ImagesAcela Express Summer 2000 November 2000 My first sighting of the Acela Express occurred during a trip through Vermont in August 2000. I found it on a siding in Bellows Falls, Vermont waiting to be delivered to Amtrak for final assembly. I would next see an Express trainset as it came through Milford during its inagural service run on November 16, 2000. Today it is not unusual to see many Acelas in course of one's normal business as they pass through our downtown.
Cafe Atlantique, My favorite train watching site. Quite possibly the best spot to watch trains along the upper NEC is just a 15 minute walk from my home at Cafe Atlantique in Milford, CT. One can see as many as 8 passenger trains per hour while sitting sheltered from the elements with a coffee, espresso, beer, or wine. Lunch and dinner is served too. Live jazz is heard most Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you stop in, look for me in the front window! |
