I recommend what the Post Office calls a "Padded Bag". I have been sent pins in a small one of these before with no problems. The pins would most likely survive a normal envelope but do so at you own risk.

This represents what the actual pin looks like better then the above drawing. The size is going to depend your monitor and The gold background is reflective.
