Above: Cleaning out the journal box revealed this mess, which is old oil and packing material.


Above: The empty journal shows the axle. All the axles on the car were re-packed as a precaution.


Above: After the repacking was complete, all the journals were checked by running the car. Dan Gornstein and Joe Stupar walk the car checking journals during the test trip. All the journals stayed cool.


Above: This picture shows the new 3rd rail beam, unpainted. Also visible is the difference between the old and new paint.
