Old Time Trains

The Toronto World of Tuesday reports that when a heavy freight train of 46 cars ran wild down the grade of the dangerous Caledon horseshoe curve Saturday night, only a kindly Providence staved off what seemed to be an inevitable disaster.
The engineer explained that icy rails and the train's great weight were too much for his single engine to combat and estimated the train went down the grade at anywhere from 60 to 90 miles an hour. J. R. Bates and A. E. Rosevear, of Shelburne, were on the train and have no desire to repeat their experience.
