CPR Uhthoff

Sectionmen at Uhthoff. Man at far left is Ed Hyde father of David. He worked mostly on the Orangeville Sub. (Alton and Cataract) then to Milton, then Guelph and finally as an Assistant Roadmaster between Streetsville and Woodstock.
Others are Lawrence Langley, Merv Hallet, Bill Binstead and Jim Oakley. July 10,1951 David Hyde Collection

This motor car was powered by a small gas engine owned by the section foreman himself. It had just been purchased last winter and was still being paid for at the time this photograph was taken. It was a big improvement over the hand pump car normally provided by the CPR and, no, he didn't have to buy the gas! The motorcar itself was owned by the Company.
