Hogg's Hollow

Hogg's Hollow located south and east of Yonge Street and York Mills Road was named for James Hogg, a Scotsman who settled there in 1824. He operated a whisky distillery as well as a grist mill and was considered the most successful of all the millers in the valley. In later years his sons subdivided a few home sites however, it wasn't until the 1920's that significant development took place. By the 1960's it had become a prestige residential area and remains one of the better such areas in Toronto.
