The
General Motors Class 66s
The Class 66 locomotive fleet
has grown rapidly in the UK thanks to the investment by English, Welsh
& Scottish Railway in 250 of these locomotives and the subsequent
purchase of 74 Class 66s by Freightliner and 12 by GBRf.
The locomotives have been designed
on the back of the original UK General Motors design, the Class 59,
of which there are 15 working in the United Kingdom for EWS, Foster
Yeoman and ARC, the latter two now operating under the Mendip Rail banner.
