Happy Independence Day! On July 4, 2002, the Port of TIllamook Bay ran a passenger special from Bay City to Rockaway Beach so riders could enjoy the annual beachside fireworks show put on by the Rockaway Beach Fire Department and other sponsors. Here. We see RDC 553 sitting next to the depot as the show gets underway. If you've never been to the beach for a fireworks show, Rockaway's is one of the good ones. Though it's relatively small (we're no Vancouver, after all...) the festivities begin early in the day and wrap up with the roughly 30 minute show. Maybe it's a good thing to plan for next year...
