2004: The Big Rebuild After spending most of the previous summer building a new tool shed I was ready to start garden railroading again and we started working on the new expansion at the end of June. The new layout design provided a larger yard at Spruce and room for a large sawmill. I also wanted to incorporate a large bridge structure and opted for a combination of deck bridges and a thru truss bridge on a slight curve like on the WM at Keystone, PA. I also built a new waterfall and stream, added a few more buildings and dozens of new plants.
Late June we are working up the hill out of Spruce
Mid-July, we have gotten thru the tunnel and made the wye connections to the tool shed.
By late July we have the line surveyed but determined we will need a lot of fill.
By August we have hauled in about 7 cubic yards of dirt (one wheelbarrow at a time)
