This style, with company initials, was used between Winchester and Eastleigh only and ran from 180 to 200 approximately. These heavy plates measure one inch thick and the nails that held them to the tunnel faces eventually rusted through, causing the plates to become detached. Other fixing methods were used, depending on the location, either bolted to a bridge or a length of bullhead rail. All other L&SWR bridge plates were of plain rectangular design, with no company initials. Bridge 186 was St Cross tunnel, just south of Winchester.
