The Rail Enthusiast Web Site
r    e    w   s

Welcome to the re-designed Rail Enthusiast Web Site. The site is now on its fourth re-design since birth back in Easter 1999. The web site is designed to provide information and news to the British railway enthusiast and anyone else interested.

The site consists of following sections.

Railway Photolog
All pictures on the pages are thumbnails, please click on them to view the larger picture. Includes: 1038 14:06 Birmingham New Street to Bournemouth, 37075 On The Move, Birmingham International 19th January 2000, London Euston 9th January 2000, and Stafford 21st January 2000.

Photo Rail Gallery
This section shares some of my better photographs on the internet for aficionados of classic traction such as the EE type3 or Brush 4 through to the modern GM's. Most of my photographic collection concentrates on the late 1990's through 2000's.

Equipment Photos
Photos of locomotives, coaches and other vehicles including diesel, electric & steam locomotives, DMUs, Electric Multiple Units, Coaching Stock, Departmental Vehicles and Wagons.

Depot Directory
The most comprehensive and accurate directory of railway depots around Great Britain with a searchable database and details of how to get there and what to see.

Class 37/4 Preservation Project
The aim is to preserve a member of the popular 37/4 sub-class for future generations to enjoy and to help preserve the memory of these English Electric machines.

TOPS Codes
A brief history of TOPS (Total Operating Processing System) is given together with a guide to deciphering the mysterious TOPS codes.

Locomotive Diagrams
Passenger diagrams for the last remaining loco-hauled services updated to the Summer 2000 timetable. Now also including some HST diagrams!

Unit Diagrams
Real unit diagrams for the multiple unit connoisseur. Ride them whilst you can before they go under the blow torch.

Downloads
To complement the above section all the locomotive diagrams can be downloaded free of charge from here.

Pet Locomotives
Everyone has their pet locomotives, for one reason or another there is a particular machine that has stuck in our memory. Well here are my pet locomotive's) and a brief history of them.

Links
A page providing links to the best railway web sites on the internet.

Who helped make this site what it is.

This web site isn't planned to be first with the news or pretend to be biggest and best. It is my attempt to share my hobby with others. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks,

Matt.
