| (54K) A CSX work train rolls by the depot shortly after I arrived in Orlando.
| (53K) This station reminds me of the Santa Barbara depot in a big way.
| (48K) The entrance to the Orlando station.
| (71K) I saw this train just before arriving in town and I was determined to "backtrack" to photograph it!
| (77K) Another shot of the Church Street train.
| (29K) The logos on side of locomotive. I wonder if this locomotive still works? The cars weren't open to the public but I heard an air conditioner running in the dome car
| (50K) A peace officer is kind enough to let me photograph him. I didn't see any police cars, just officers on horseback.
| (47K) Here I was trying new shutter settings in bright light. Looks like I got it right as this locomotive was not moving slowly and my camera froze the action nicely.
| (52K) This little engine that could, and DID pull a very long local freight.
| (50K) Amfleet Coaches are used on the Silver Star.
| (43K) An unscheduled arrival of a Superliner train. Nope, it was my Sunset Limited coming from Sanford where it is serviced.
| (40K) Ten minutes before sunset provides interesting lighting conditions.
| (32K) A green signal in the distance and railfans by the front of the train.
| (27K) As the sun sets, it casts a warm orange glow on the white station walls and it is then reflected off of the silver Superliner cars!
| (50K) I'm no WWII expert, but this looks like a trainer of some kind. Photo near Mobile, AL
| (42K) More camera shutter speed testing after passing a freight on a siding near Mobile, AL.
| (43K) Lots of small lakes and bayous were seen in the deep south.
| (37K) Entering the massive Honey Island Swamp.
| (23K) Traversing the Honey Island Swamp.
| (53K) Bury me right here, next to the tracks.
| (44K) More beautiful lakes and water formations in eastern Louisiana.
| (38K) Coming into New Orleans, the engineer on The City of New Orleans train watches our train back into the station.
| (39K) On the platform at New Orleans.
| (43K) Here we go with the hoses again. This time there is no water waste.
| (48K) Guy, my sleeping car attendant from Orlando to Los Angeles.
| (46K) A new stadium being built to replace (I think) the existing Superdome that is home to the New Orleans Saints.
| (39K) The impressive Huey P. Long bridge west of New Orleans.
| (40K) I love the CSX paint scheme. Blue and yellow go together very nicely.
| (38K) More waterways leading to the Mississippi with brush scrub growing everywhere.
| (46K) Guy at his post outside the sleeping car in San Antonio waiting for boarding passengers.
| (25K) The old San Antonio station will become a pool hall or restaurant of some kind.
| (24K) The old station with the train and covered platform.
| (49K) A golf cart brought the new crew from the station trailer to the locomotive. The lighting was great for photos.
| (29K) The top of The Tower of the Americas masked by the clouds.
| (63K) State-of-the-art San Antonio station temporary building.
| (52K) Approaching the Pecos River High Bridge.
| (41K) 321 feet above the Pecos river.
| (37K) At maximum zoom (210 mm), the carved-out walls by the Pecos River.
| (63K) Indians lived up in those rocks here in Eagle Rock Canyon.
| (60K) A windmill out in the middle of nowhere.
| (95K) This is what appears to be an indian cave at the center of this photo.
| (40K) Passengers board on a very balmy evening in El Paso, TX.
| (36K) Playing with the camera light metering, I concentrated on a photo of our locomotives while a brilliant sunset took place below. What a difference it makes to meter the desired subject in the photo.
| (29K) Metering for a nice sunset with train in the foreground! What a treat it was to get this when we stopped in El Paso.
| (48K) Just ten seconds after taking this picture, the spectacular sunset was over and I didn't see the sun again until just outside Los Angeles. This was a great finale picture to a fantastic, memorable trip!
