Hagerstown Roundhouse Virtual Tour - South Erecting Shop

Jan. 12, 1998: The South Erecting Shop has been demolished.

The south erecting shop was used mainly for building railroad cars, although some locomotive work could be done here. Notice the raised walkways beside some of the tracks; these allowed safe work on high places of the cars.

To the right, out the doors, is the transfer table which connected the tracks in this building to the north erecting shop and out to the rest of the railroad.
