Just what was the base color for the Erie's buildings? I've seen it referred to as a buff and as an off-white. I tried to match a shot from the book "Erie In Color" to a manufacturer's paint and the closest I could come up with was TH&B cream, which came out to be a bit dark.
I've been able to do the green trim and the red window sashes with no appreciable trouble but this base color is driving me nuts. Assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.
Most Erie buildings that I can think of were painted buff with green trim. At the local Erie interlocking tower, WC in Waldwick, you can still find some of the paint chips showing the green trim and the light yellow on the rest of the structure. The paint has peeled off for the most part, revealing a kind of color-history of the building. Last time I checked, All I could see were layer after layer of buff and green. In an interesting twist of fate, NJ Transit forces repainted the Allendale, NJ station into this scheme not too long ago, after the station was for many years painted grey with red trim.
