Texas Railroad Sesquicentennial: Gulf Coast area

How Sweet It Is! BNSF train HHOUGAL907 was westbound on the UP Glidden Subdivision at Sugar Land (west of Houston between Stafford and Rosenberg) at 2:52 pm on Sunday, September 7, 2003.

Two of the most historically significant scenes in this overall presentation are this and the Union Pacific excursion photo in the Special Events section showing a glimpse of Buffalo Bayou at Harrisburg. It was the need of plantations around Stafford's Point to market their products cheaply that started flanged wheels to rolling in Texas. Buffalo Bayou, navigable to the Gulf of Mexico, was just what their supply chain needed. But it took the Buffalo Bayou, Brazos & Colorado Railway to provide the missing 20-mile link between the two.
