Trinity Industries - Saginaw and Hicks, Texas |
---|
Trinity Industries, a manufacturer and rebuilder of railroad cars, has two facilities which have switch engines north of Ft. Worth. North of Saginaw along Business Hwy 287 is a car rebuilding facility located north of Hicks Airport. The plant is home to two GE center-cab switch engines, numbers 7 and 13. The plant is served by Union Pacific; an interchange track is located north of the overpass where Business 287 crosses UP's Duncan Sub main line. The locomotives are best photographed during morning hours.

A second Trinity facility is located on the north side of Saginaw, Texas, north of the large Union Equity grain elevator. The Saginaw facility's primary function is the production of new rail cars. Trinity locomotive 1252 is assigned to this plant, which interchanges with BNSF's Wichita Falls Sub on the north side of Saginaw adjacent to Business Hwy 287. The best opportunity to observe this engine is when it leaves the plant to deliver cars to BNSF. Photography is best in the afternoon.
