Texas Northwestern Railway Co. |
---|
Located in the Texas panhandle north of Amarillo, the Texas Northwestern Railway (TXNW)
operates approximately 40 miles of ex-Rock Island
track, stemming from a connection with the BNSF Boise City
Sub (an ex-Santa Fe secondary main from Amarillo to Las Animas, CO)
at Etter, east to the towns of Morse and Pringle. TXNW began
operations in 1982, having acquired Rock Island's trackage from Etter to Liberal, Kansas, the
eastern portion of which was scrapped by 1987. TXNW's principal
traffic includes carbon black, and petroleum- and agricultural-related products.
